Car is an '03 Aero wagon, 98k miles.

A month ago the T/S failed stuck open. I recognized the symptoms immediately from prior failure in April '13 at 84k. Temp gauge running low, then periodic drop to low w/ code P0016. Took it to a local Indy who confirmed the same and R&Red.

Here's where it gets weird. The service invoice listed p/n 8817538 (82deg Wahler T/S) vs. the spec 89deg Wahler (p/n 8817298) that was installed previously. Asked the shop about it and they said it was a typo - 89deg Wahler installed.

On long drives since I've noticed the gauge running low. Normal 9 o'clock around town, but on a long downgrade at highway speed it's maybe 8:30, and going down a steep mountain pass at 70mph it will nearly bottom out. But no fault codes until...

...last week I get a CEL & P1312. Disappeared after a few cycles. I figure it's DIC time, since my last one was 6yr/45k ago, and order one up from Eeuro. But after another highway trip this weekend with the funny temp gauge (which dropped out completely to low tonight - no code yet) I'm thinking...

1) Did they actually put in the 82 deg T/S?
2) Could that cause the P1312 and/or DIC issue?

I don't imagine there's a way to ID the T/S from the outside? Other recommendations?

Cheers,

Mr. Science
