Believe me, if you would be loosing a q of oil per month/1000 miles externally, you would be leaving puddles of oil everywhere you park and you would think something is seriously wrong.
Your engine is consuming the oil past piston rings and/or turbo seals sending it out to get incinerated in the catalytic converter leaving almost no trace of it at the tail pipe.
Making sure the PCV system and especially the white check valve is in working order is the best you can do and maybe switch to a different viscosity and brand oil.
Some brands tend to pass through more and synthetic tend to slip through more that conventional oils. So it is a toss up in each case what can be a good actions.
