...as the DIC only contains fixed elements (electrical contacts, embedded circuit board, etc.). It can obviously take temperature changes since the trunk would never get as hot as the engine bay. What could be an issue is moisture that might end up causing corrosion on metal contacts, etc.
I wonder if it would help for storing a spare DIC in the trunk/hatch to keep it in its box inside a sealed plastic container with desiccant packets to control moisture?
