I have a 2000 9-5 with 210k on the clock. Normally runs good and no trouble starting. The last couple of mornings its taken more than a a few cranks to start but nothing alarming. Tonight when I left the restaurant that I was at, it cranked and cranked but no start. I let it sit for a few minutes and tried again but same thing, strong cranking but won't turn over. I thought I could hear the fuel pump when I turned the key but it was kind of loud at my location. I then tried holding the gas pedal to the floor but no luck.
After about 15 minutes of this, I called the tow truck. While I was waiting for the truck, I gave it one more try, and it started right up. As I left the parking lot, I pushed down on the gas pedal, and the car bogged down like it was going to stall. It kept going, and it was perfectly fine for the 5 miles or so to get home.
It seems like a fuel delivery issue to me. Is this a symptom of a failing fuel pump?
Any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Rob
