I put my Thule system---load bars, bike mounts, and all--on the Saab rails and it works just fine. I had the system left from my Volvo S70, but it is a Thule system. The fork mounts for the bikes have locks, but the load bars do not. I guess someone could lift the whole thing off the rails, but it would be very awkward and time-consuming to do so. My son is a MTB racer and we transport very expensive bikes, and it doesn't seem to worry him. I suppose it could be a problem with skis, but I just put those inside the car with one side of the seatback (9-5 wagon) down. Kayaks go on top with Thule mounts too.
I did not compare prices to the Saab-sold system since I already had my own. If you want to buy the load bars from Saab to include the cost in your lease, they should be able to tell you if they are "Thule-compatible" (I believe they are, just like the Volvo ones). Thule certainly offers the most flexibility in components. Good luck and happy biking.
