I certainly don't think about that at all... Before replacing the shocks, I found the car kind of "wallowed" over large bumps etc on the road, especially descending or around corners. I had a second 9-5 of the same model and year to compare with and ours was significantly worse. Now it is significantly better than that other car. I replaced all 4 corners, though I think the fronts were still ok, I just wanted a balanced suspension response. I put Bilstein Tourings on the back only of a c900 and kinda wish I had done all 4 corners (and used Konis!!).
I have no experience though with the self leveling suspension. Maybe you can replace that with the standard setup, but from the sounds of it, a self leveling suspension is something very desirable on a 9-5 wagon (having gone through several rounds of tweaking ride height on our sedan).
