A word of caution about the receiver antenna for the key. It's located in the console just ahead of the rear vents on the driver's side and is taped in place. There is no mention of it in the WIS.
The Workshop Information System on DVD can be found on auction sites for under $40. If you do ANY DIY work on a SAAB, this is a must. Another cautionary note is to run the WIS in the Windows XP environment.
The center console has a facia or trim on the outside and a structural casting inside of it which carries the shift mechanism and key cylinder. I assume only the exterior facia portion is being replaced. Yes, it's attached by about six hidden screws. The arm rest, key transmitter ring, and rear ash tray/power supply all need to come out. The only tricky portion I remember was that pesky remote lock receiver.
