It will depend on how bad the DIC is. If it's intermittent, then monitoring with a Tech II might be your best bet. Diagnosing via spark / no spark with a DIC outside the engine may not tell you a lot - your eye won't be able to see missed sparks, only yes/no. If you install the new (Bosch ?) CPS and it acts the same, I would inspect the DIC harness and then go for a new DIC or at least test with a known goo oem. I am in the camp of not using anything but SAAB / SEM oem DIC's - too many ill reports on Proparts and others.
