It's funny you should mention Airtex pumps. I had heard the same thing, that they're supposedly OEM, so I put one in my NG900, which uses the same pump as the 9-5, last year. It failed on me a couple of weeks ago and emptied the expansion tank in a couple of days. It was all coming out the weep hole, so I assume the bearing failed.
Saab really isn't far off with their description of removing the radiator. Once the fans are out, you just disconnect the radiator hoses and the transmission cooler lines, unbolt the upper radiator brackets, and it lifts out. The transmission cooler lines are a pair of banjo bolts on the side of the radiator. You can't miss them. If or when you do choose to mess with them, get a set of the rubber-lined washers they're supposed to use. You'll want four for the radiator end.
