highest volume of both discussions - and - "Mine is the best brand..." opinions!
Do some searching on tire, and you will read quite a bit. But one thing you need to decide first. Do you want safety/performance over wear? Also factor in if your are in a dry, wet or snow climate.
Here is what I've always concluded:
No matter how good the car is, brakes, handling, speed, and no matter how good of a drive you and your familly are - the only thing that moves, turns or stops a car is the four tiny little patches of tire making contact with the road! For my fam, I went with safety/performance over wear. That extra 5-10ft of shorter stops, makes the difference of your car not plowing into the back of another car. All of us know ths ""Stuff" happens!", and sometimes you just got to stop quickly!
I just replaced our OEM's with the Bridgestone Pole Position S-03. These seemed to me to be the best Maximum Performace tire for the $ at this time. I figured it cost me less then $100 to upgrade to this level of tire, factoring the price and earlier replacement. I expect to get between 25-30K out of them, over about two year - that is a small price to pay.
Good luck on your decision, and enjoy the Saab...
