Hello: Looking for some technical help. This past week my Saab went into limp mode. The trans indicator light came on the dash. The trans doesn't seem to be slipping, but it's certainly in limp mode. I would get a bang when I shifted out of park and into drive. While in limp mode I'd put it in 1st gear, it would bang when I engaged it, once I got up to 20 to 30 mph, I'd shift it back to drive, again, I'd get a band. The turbo would not engage, but again, it doesn't feel like it's slipping, just in limp mode. I took it to an independant trans shop and they tell me the tranny is gone. $3500 to replace it. I told them I had to think about if I wanted to replace the trans and I'd get back to them. Yesterday, I started it and drove it, and the light was out and it ran perfectly for about 1 hour, then back into limp mode. I'm guessing (and only a guess) that it's either a valve body or trans control module. If the trans was slipping it would always slip and not have had the light go out and run perfectly. Before I start pouring money into it, I'd like some advise from someone more knowledgeable than I am. I thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.
Thank youk, Jake
