Rear engine mount Auto or Manual? Posted by Bill B [Email] (#1884) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill B) on Thu, 13 Jul 2017 20:12:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Eeuro sells Genuine Saab rear engine mounts in two flavors, automatic and manual. They also sell Hutchinson mounts, but only in manual. Other vendors, Pelican and Parts geek sell Hutchinson, but don't name the flavor. Presumably customers with auto and manual buy them. Amazon sells a brand named DEA with no flavor mentioned.
Is the difference between the auto and manual dimensional or does it have to do with the compliance of the material? Can we guess that the manual mount needs to be able to absorb the impulse of sudden full throttle pop-the-clutch shifts while the auto shifts are much more relaxed.
What is the consequence of purchasing a manual rear mount for my automatic 2001 4 speed auto, besides having enough leftover cash to take a cruise to the Bahamas? A happy wife is worth a few vibrations.
