Blowing in your check valve to see if it stops your air your blowing will check if it's working or not. And no the 9-5 isn't pron to climate change. Mine can be in 0 degree weather or running to key west (fl) in 100 degree noting effects it. If it's solid it's solid.
Reason your having many problems is most likely it's old owner knew about the problems but decided to sell the car rather than fix them. Once you got your Saab running 100% there's nothing better. Fuel pumps give strange symptoms when their on there way out. Swapping it wouldn't hurt. Also sounds like you'd need a new direct ignition module (dic) but this would turn on the engine lite. A faulty throttle body could also produce crazy symptoms that would not trip the engine lite.
But check it out, say you need the dic, fuel pump, and throttle body just them three items can cost in excess of 2000$ if you don't know were to buy them. That's a big push to sell any car. EEuroparts.com have great prices on anything you need. Do your own work on the car and you can't go wrong
