Coolant leak/water pump?

For quite a while I have been smelling a little coolant in the cabin as I drive and noticed a TINY drop in the level.
Figured at first it was the BPV but of course it's not the normal failure behavior.
On weekend found a small puddle under the car (first time) more toward he front of the car and to the pass/right.
My experience of the BPV is more to the firewall and to the driver side left.
Coolant was oily but definitely the DexCool orange coolant predominantly.
Tried to follow it and yes the water pump is damp but its damp with oil mostly. Does not seem to show a coolant leak. I figured that the coolant had leaked down and brought the oil from the side of the engine (I have a timing cover leak) with it. I could not see any obvious leaks elsewhere.
Do you folks think I have a water pump issue or something else?
It is an 05' Linear wagon at 87,000 miles.
The prevailing thought that I could find here in old posts seems to be that it might be water pump. I'm just trying to confirm and any help would be appreciated greatly.
Also is it a hard job DIY? Seems like it would be at the top of my capabilities.
So much for congratulating myself last week for how great its going.
