Before attempting tricky heat welding of broken plastics, especially fastening tabs, if you have the broken off piece, you can use some sheet metal strip as a bridge between the broken plastic pieces and drill/pop rivet on each side of the break into the sheet metal and plastic sandwich. If you put the rivet head on the plastic side, you can get away from using a washer on the sheet metal side. If done with the rivet head on the sheet metal side, you'll need the metal washer on the plastic side to protect the plastic from the mushrooming rivet when setting it. Another surgery technique I've used for plastic parts is to tack them in place at the break edge of each with super glue, then use a very small drill bit to make one or two holes on each side of the break for threading light monofilament stitching between the two parts. Thread through one of the holes and tie off the start end of the mono, then keep tension on the mono and thread back and forth 4-6 times between the pieces and tie off when finished. Coat over to bind the threads with quick set epoxy or some super glue. Let dry and then reassemble.
