As a new owner of my first Saab, a V6, I have been watching this board very closely regarding the V6. While it is obvious that there are lots of very happy 4 cyl owners on this board, I must say that while there may not be many of us, I sure get the feeling that V6 owners are very happy with their engine choice. I certainly am, at 4,500 miles. I also gather that an earlier generation V6 (prior to 1999?) was not such a pleasant experience.
My concern is that comments like those of Mr. Davies in his post: "four cylinder engines are reputed to be much more durable and
trouble free than the six" is probably inaccurate today, and will mislead other buyers considering their engine choice, as I was just 3 months ago. I propose that until we have facts to support our positions that we operate on the assumption that both engine choices are good, valid, choices, and that potential buyers choose an engine based on other characteristics than undocumented reliablity or durability "problems".
Thanks for listening.
