I needed to intercept the antenna lead to the factory radio so I could connect it to an aftermarket Digital FM adapter, which sends its output to the factory radio as an AUX-In via the faceplate jack.
The link below will take you directly to the Installer.com web page for the 2008 9-5. They identify the stock radio size as being larger than a double DIN, and sell adapters that will accommodate either a Double DIN or Single DIN sized replacement unit. Based upon the web site's graphics they obviously believe that most car audio system customizers are young guys with too many hormones. I was in my late-50's when I installed my adapter.
