I Yes I think your correct that was and 02 to 04 arc and aero thing with the big brakes, so your 05 would not have them. As far as the anti rattle spring that was noted it will result in a soft pedal if missing or incorrectly installed. It is the spring wire on the outside of the caliper that runs under the ends of the brackets. You can see it through the wheel.
I would also recommend you search out and old eeuro article called: The Myth of the Big Brake Kit. I have made many people read this article when thinking of up-sizing there brakes. I do feel putting on the slightly larger brakes that were an option on the car such as the aero set up from 02 to 04 is slightly beneficial but like I said before as well as what MI-Roger said the earlier brake pads make a great improvement.
