Ahh interesting that #2 and #1 suffer under lean condition. The MAF is 2 yrs old, the car is modestly tuned, and has a sport exhaust. The sparkplug from #1, aside from being smushed, was also suspiciously free of carbon, that might argue in favor of a failed injector?
The pistons from the donor look pretty good to my eye (FWIW). No obvious scuffing on the skirts and the cylinder walls still had noticeable cross hatching.
