If you are really going to put a spray/lube into the lock cylinder it is wise to first pull it from the center console. If the lock gets stuck because of the treatment while it is still in the center console it is a major pain to remove it. While it still works it is easy to take out and when you find out the lube made it worse you can have somebody just take the cylinder apart instead of the center console.
BTW, I hate to publicly admit this embarrassing fact but I almost got stranded on a ferry (!!) because I ignored my sticky lock for too long. There will be a moment it won't turn anymore (and thus cannot be removed anymore). I was lucky, I got it to turn eventually but, with hundreds of cars behind me getting impatient and the boat having to turn around, it was not fun.
If you are getting close to that point you can remove the lock cylinder and start the car with a flatblade screwdriver turning the switch below the lock (but have your key close to it so the car will start).
