On my old 9000 which predeceased me, the auto had some hard shifting issues. I used Lucas brand transmission honey (called transmission treatment? or something) and it noticeably improved shifting until I waved goodbye for a number of other reasons. The one caveat is that it was so thick, you had to premix it with tranny fluid before putting it in (after draining some out) since adding it in cold temps could block passages and starve the tranny. Unless your 9-5 has issues and high mileage, I would just stick to regular fluid changes using the incremental, non- flush approach and proper spec fluid. You need about 3 drop and fill changes to achieve a 90% plus replacement. My random preference is to do the first two about a month apart and the third one 6-12 months later. Then you could leave it until you rack up the necessary km to repeat.
