Here in the land of winter salt, anything but coated rotors rust terribly, and the corrosion creeps in to the swept area from the edge and center to the point where they will no longer pass state inspection. The genuine Saab rotors seem to have some sort of coating, possibly zinc, that lasts a couple of winters before it shows a little “browning” on the coated area, but they last a lot longer so they are worth the money. I have a can of zinc paint I use on the rotors to prolong the life. With open wheels those rusted rotors also look bad but that’s personal preference. We all try to save a buck when we can, but I don’t mind paying a little more to keep Orio going and supplying Saab parts.
