there are youtube videos and various forum entries around.. so read up a bit before undertaking the job as it will take a bit of time. You're not going to want to drop the pan without inspecting the cleaning it out along with the pickup screen.

I don't recall the exact steps, but key steps involve dropping the exhaust, from its manifold connection. And I believe the O2 sensors, or its wire connection, need to be removed to allow the needed space to swing the exhaust out of the way, when removing the pan. The big step is hoping the nuts come off the manifolds studs cleanly.. Once you get the 3 nuts off, you're in good shape.. and the rest is just time consuming. Sometimes the whole stud will come out of the manifold along with the nut.. which is fine.

then its just a matter of removing the pans bolts, and hoping the pan comes out without any fuss. Otherwise, on some model years, you may need to nudge the engine just a bit, with a bar or jack, in order to create a bit of extra space to get it out. Mine (2001 linear sedan) came out without any fuss...

Then be prepared to spend a bit of time cleaning the mounting surface, sump/pan, and pickup screen. You'll want to remove the screen/tube assembly while you're at it.. and be sure to replace the 2 O-rings for the tube, as the old ones will undoubtedly be brittle, given their age.. which can affect your oil pressure.

as mentioned .. no gasket is used.. There is a sealant.. just be sure to to apply a good size/continuous bead, and not overtightening anything, when reassembling. There are some aftermarket gaskets I've seen.. but I would stick with the sealant, as it's tried and true..

good luck!
Mike
