Honestly, it’s not rocket science to rule out the overcharge. Any reputable shop that is willing to Evac and recharge by weight can help determine that’s the system works or doesn’t. A good shop can put a dye in and find leaks. Doesn’t have to be a Saab shop.
I have a 2003 9-5 approaching 320,000 miles. Pinhole leak in the evaporator. I have it recharged it every couple years - by weight. It would take ten of those services to justify the cost of fixing the leak.
Given the likely overcharge, it’s worth getting it back to a baseline charge, with dye and see what happens.
Just my view.
