Without a doubt, get a Valentine 1. Its superior range will make the difference even if the OEM windshield tint reduces the range. I don't think the OEM glasss makes an appreciable difference.
SAAB has been using solar reflecting glass in its cars at least since the '94 intro of the 900. I've had a Valentine 1 (upgraded twice) over that time and it has only failed me four times (all instant on, but helped tremendously as I shed some serious speed to reduce the cost of the infraction) over an 8 year span. Not shabby for a serious speeder. I am realistic about tickets, as they are the inevitable for those who drive alot and choose to speed over a long period of time. Others who think that radar detectors are infallible wear rose colored glasses.
Don't waste your time with other detectors. Get the V1. I've converted a few of my friends who drive SAABs (check out the Turbo! list) to the benefits of the V1. I'm a true believer. :-)
