stock wheel width is 6.5", most 225/50 require at least 7" wheel width. they will fit but they won't sit right. the tire will be pulled in on the sides which causes a bulge in the center on the tire. once this happens - uneven wear occurs. you will need to run lower air pressure to correct the problem which is dangerous since this will cause the tire to heat up. stick to the 215/55 on the stock 6.5" rims. BTW, i have a set of 2002 linear 10 spoke wheels and OEM Michelin 215/55vr16 tires in the classifieds taken off my car at 900 miles for $650.
