Simon - I generally respect your opinion, but not here. I had a BMW 535i for five years. The car was built like a tank, inside and out. Here I'm not talking about the dash, or indeed most of the plastic components of the Saab, but rather of certain flimsy plastic parts like the locks in the door handles, the plastic surrounding the front and rear overhead lights, and the like. The BMW plastic on those items is clearly stronger and more rigid. Shininess isn't an issue. I don't know why Saab skimps in this area, but maybe they cannot put out such a good engine at the price they do if they spent more on other items.
