The V6 does have a distinctive growl on acceleration, and I don't think a 9-5 is going to be as quiet as a Cadillac in any situation. Speaking for myself, once the car settles into cruising speed I don't hear the engine at all (Saab added additional sound deadening to 9-5s during the '99 production run). I've never heard transmission noise of any sort, and the four-speed's shifts are very well controlled. There's minor wind noise at freeway speeds, but it's pretty much masked by tire noise from the standard Michelin MXV4s. What I mean is that what I used to think was wind noise almost completely disappears when transitioning from concrete to new asphalt--it's the tires.
Almost nobody on this board likes these tires, and if there were a single item I'd consider negotiating on your car with the dealer, it would be replacing the stock tires w/ something suitable. They wear like iron though, so probably have lots of tread left.
I'd try to get the warranty transfer documented somehow, but I do think it's in force for the rest of the four years/50k. State laws differ. Here in California, a used car warranty is implicit unless the dealer posts otherwise on the car. As a result they use lots of "As Is" window stickers, which really mean "You're on your own, buddy."
