Throttle Body / ECM recall stuff Posted by Todd [Email] (#958) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Todd) on Thu, 15 Feb 2001 14:40:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am reviving an older discussion regarding the ECM recall and work done on the throttle body. I have a 99 9-5 SE 2.3. I just went and read my service records over and at beginning at about 12,000 miles I've had nearly the same complaint each time.
"Customer states car surges, rough idle, idle surges" etc.
So each time my dealer performed something new. First they said try new gas (this was before recall and before I got smarter). Then they flashed the ECM (reprogrammed), better for a while. Then they replaced the plugs, better for a while. Then they replaced the turbo, better for a while. Then they performed the ECM campaign, better, for a while. The last service they performed the throttle body campaign (cleaned it I think) and found the PCV hose loose.
Two days ago - engine light came on, car mis-fired and stalled. So off we went back to the dealer (26,500miles) and they have replaced the throttle body entirely. Do you think this will do it? Do you think I will have to continue with this hit and miss servicing forever? I owned a 88 900T -didn't have this much trouble. Any comments or suggestions?
Sidebar: After the car ambulance (tow-truck) took my baby away - Enterprise rent-a-car gave me an 01 Impala to drive. I am VERY excited to get the SAAB back today! I forgot what an American car is like.
