Dashboard Cupholder question - just a question! Posted by vsfoxe [Email] (#1025) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vsfoxe) on Tue, 24 Dec 2002 00:25:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
9-5 Cupholder. I've searched "cupholder", read many, many posts. I think it's a very innovative feature, BUT: I prefer to drink 20 oz. soda on longer drives (vice 12 oz. cans), but the 20 oz. plastic bottles fit down into the cupholder tightly, and the problem is the fact that they require 2 hands to get the bottle back out (twist, pull, whatever) - not very safe! My question is, has anyone removed the rubber ears which protrude into the cupholder ring, to increase the inside diameter by 3/8"? If someone has, was there any problem? I believe a 20 oz. bottle might fit well then, and I don't think the 3/8" larger hole would cause a problem with other containers. We have a Toyota Camry SLE-V6, 2 cupholders in the center console which will almost (but not quite) accept a 1 liter (over 32 oz.!) bottle, and nary a drop has been spilled out of 12 oz. cans, or any other container. Anyone tried this expansion?
