I'm on my second 9-5 (a 99 2.3 LPT) and I also ran a 99 2.0 LPT. My wife had two Opel Vectras - the cars that the 9-5's chassis is based on. The Opels are a mainstream car here in Europe - mass market but reasonably good quality. The 9-5 already has a number of bits that can be found on the smaller Vectras - brakes, the ski flap in the boot, locks, all looked and sounded identical to the Vectra. The big differences are in the chassis set up and Saab's engines - here the 9-5 wins, no contest. I think if the Opel influence allows Saab to get standard bits for less but they stick to their own on the important bits then Saab is in for a good run

(My first post here since about 3 years ago!!! I live in Poland and love the 9-5. Also have a Miata and wife runs a Fiat Multipla (if anyone in the US knows what that is - seriously wacky car!)
