Hi all. We bought a new '02 Aero (auto, steel grey) at the end of last July. Just discovered this forum recently. I'm a die-hard Audi fan, having owned three (one of which shares the garage with the Saab), so the switch was kind of hard, but this is a great car! Not one problem so far (13,000 miles now). I attribute that partly to luck and I also think Saab has had some time to work out any problems that may have shown up on early cars.

My wife liked the car better than any of the Mercedes models we looked at, however she might have liked the BMW 5 Series we looked at just as well from a style/appearance standpoint. She just loves the Saab interior (beige leather).

The car has exceeded my expectations, however, if I could have a Saab engineer's ear, I would point out the following:
1. The remotes don't work from more than a car length away. They need more range.
2. It would be nice to have a separate latch/button for the trunk. Having to use the remote or driver's door button is kind of a hassle.
3. The door sill rub strips should extend down further over the carpeted area. Almost impossible to keep the beige carpet from getting dirty scruff marks.
4. The door locks should be quieter when actuated electrically. Too noisy and harsh sounding for a premium european car.
5. A six-disk in dash CD changer anyone??

The above are all real picky, I admit. What can I say, the car is almost perfect otherwise. I love the fact that it is a premium car, but not at all snooty. Love the economy, too. Last week's business trip to the California border (we live in central Arizona) involved a round trip of 585 miles, and elevations ranging from sea level to 7300 ft., and I got 32.5 MPG! How many other 250 hp cars can do that? Anyway, enough. I'll be interested in following this forum when I can. Regards to all. -Otis.
