if events..posted a few days ago that my car died and suspected failed DI cassette..somehow my post was removed..
at any rate...here's the story...get 15 gallons of gas at a local station on Saturday, within 5 minutes car misfired, check engine light goes on and she's dead. @ 2001 9-5 w/22K miles.
called roadside assistance, they drop off a dealer, sits for several days -where temp goes from mid 40's to mid teens. dealer looks at car, on Tue AM, tries starting it several times (from what I can tell). diagnosis - ice in pump caused fuel pump to short out. remedy, new fuel pump and installation - $954.
My position is as follows...blame can be spread several places - Gas Station for bad gas (and i'm following up a claim for this), Dealer negligence - how many times did they screw around with starting the car before they realized no gas was coming thru - thus straining the pump and shorting it...my wife for letting her get tank so low - which she does ALL THE TIME.
So far, fuel company is filing claim -will be surprised if I see more than an few $$ from them; dealer of says root cause is water in tank - true, but why they didn;t let car warm up from 13 degree temps is beyond me; SaabUSA won't do anything - not a part defect, and they won't do anything with resepct to the dealer (no surprise).
bottom line...screwed....and not a happy saab customer!
