Just do it. You will notice the edges of the headlight covers if you look closely, such as when you wash the car. Otherwise, the material is essentially invisible. The headlight film has to be much thicker than the paint film, since glass does not flex like the sheet metal does. If you used the thin body film on a glass lens, it would not dissipate the energy of a rock impact.
I have the full body/ light kit on two cars. The oldest is three years old. I have mixed feelings about the body film, but no doubts whatsoever about the headlight protection. Every car that does not use throw-away sealed beams should have light protection. The fog lights are especially vulnerable, being nearest the ground (and flying stones).
An installation hint: since the weateher is still cool, drive around with _all_ your lights on the next day - the heat will help the adhesive cure quickly.
