Ted was my service advisor through the whole problem. He was great and even went to bat for me with Saab USA. I'm sure he could see my face in his mind's eye when you were describing your problem. I've heard that IMM is great, and that's where I'll probably take my car when the warranty is up.
Since my '99 9-5 only had 27K on it, Saab was willing to work with me. They gave me $3000 in "we're sorry" money plus rebates plus owner loyalty towards another Saab. I'm happy to say my 2002 9-5 Aero has been problem-free.
If I were you, I would call Saab and see if they'll do anything for you. They probably won't, and they don't really have a compelling reason to, but who knows, they might help out on the cost of the repair. Maybe you can get them to supply the part and you'll just pick up the labor... or vice versa. They do know about this problem, and it is a safety issue. My next-door neighbor has a '99 9-5 (coincidence, huh?) and he had the same problem as me, but his problem didn't keep reccurring. There was also another post a while back about the same thing (I posted much of my same story then). Tell Saab you know of three others with this same problem. Tell them you think there should be a recall. Be nice and they might help you out.
Good luck, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
