I'm facing the same decision, but I've never considered purchasing the car for the guaranteed buy-out price. Depending on your lease, it's about 8% above blue book value.
I always thought the game was to find out what price they would accept having already limited the maximum they could ask with the guaranteed by-out price.
So, is it worth buying at the end of your lease? Always, but only at your price not theirs.
