Another oil question

Hi,
I searched this site for engine oil-related posts and read them all (well, almost all). Still, I was unable to find an answer to my question. And here it goes: I have a 2000 9-5 2.3lpt wagon with 44,000mi on it. I purchased it new. It was serviced at the respectable (so I think) dealer (Charles River SAAB near Boston, MA). Oil was changed religiously every 5,000 mi (every 3,300 mi sometimes). I do not think dealership used synthetic oil, most likely it was a synthetic blend. Does it make any sense to start asking for a fully synthetic oil to be used from now on, or should I stick with whatever they are using (they say it's SAAB recommended).
The reason behind this is my concern about the engine: as miles add up, perhaps it could benefit from fully synthetic oil in some way. So far engine (as far as I can tell) is performing flawlessly.
Thanks for your advice,
Linas
