2000 Aero suspension upgrades?

I have just purchased a 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero, and am very pleased with the car overall. However, I'm a bit disappointed with the suspension. I have owned mostly Alfa Romeos in the past, and compared to them, the Aero suspension is a bit mushy, and fairly weak in the corners (I can't imagine how bad a base 9-5 must be)!
I am interested to hear what my best option is to upgrade the suspension. Would switching to a 2002 suspension help enough? What aftermarket kits will give me the best results? Any advice, or has anyone already converted an Aero that can tell me the details pros & cons?
I've heard talk of a Bilstein kit, and others. But I am not looking to better a base 9-5.....I want to SIGNIFICANTLY improve an Aero.
Thanks,
Ross
