Car will suddenly go dead without warning while driving

Has anyone else experienced this? I bought a 1999 9-5 over a month ago and this has happened twice in that time frame. Talk about scary - driving along and suddenly the steering freezes and everything stalls. Been lucky enough to make it to the shoulder without hitting anything but am afraid this will happen while I am cruising on the hiway. Thought it might be the DI cassette but I am able to restart the car no problem after the stall. Keep taking the car to SAAB but all diagnostics say the car is in tip top shape. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Marcus
