I would do a tune up...plugs (NGK), DI Cassette (if it's never been replaced), Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner, new air filter and do a check of the pcv system.
Your mileage should be right around 16-18mpg in the city (not to heavy on the gas pedal). Low mileage is a good indicator of something amiss.
If you're not able to do the tune up right away...let the gas get close to empty and add a bottle of the fuel injector cleaner and fill up with a tank of premium, afterwards run a couple more tanks of premium and see if the mileage improves. If not it might be time for a tune up.
