There is virtually no dealer that I am aware of that actually does glass work themselves, unless they happen to own a glass business on the side. when you leave your car at a dealer for glass work, they just have the glss guy come to their shop and do it there. It becomes transparent to the customer. saab glass,like that in most German cars, has a slar control layer in it thatis integral in making the climate control system work properly. If you get the $258 dollar special listed below, and it has a solar control layer built in, then you have really saved. If it does not, and now your entire climate control system is screwed up, the cost of fixing it now goes to $1,100( plus the $258 you just wasted). A few years ago I got a quote from a local company here in the BOston area for the car at about 600,which DID include the solar control. It just might be the $1,200 dolllar windshield minus a hell of a lot of markup. There is a ton of margin in that business. You can definitely do better than 1200, but not getting the solar control glass is asking for trouble in my opinion.
