Nokian, like most manufacturers, makes SEVERAL models, with very different purposes and applications. I was responding to the "I don't even know of any all season tires with a snowflake designation in fact..." comment you made.

The Nokian WR is considered by many to be an all season tire, and it ALSO IS snowflake rated. To paraphrase an earlier Stephen Goldberger's post, Only one "all season" tire carries the "Severe Service" snowflake on its sidewall ... the Nokian WR. UTQG is 400 A - A ... every other speed rated "snowflake" tire I know of lacks UTQG numbers. Every other UTQG graded tire I know of lacks a "snowflake".

As I suggested, do a search on the boards for "Nokian WR". If you reread my post, I specifically agree w/you that the Nokian H2 is a winter SNOW tire, but the WR may be closer to what he was asking for, "a snow-rated all-season performance tire"

Personally, I'm not sure which I'll put on my car. I saw you were asking on Nokians earlier. Did you decide to go with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 (H2) or something else? Any luck on a lower priced vendor?

Sorry for the rant, but I wasn't that off the mark! Besides, a "performance" tire is anything but that in the snow! ;-)

....wow, I must have had a REALLY rough day.....
