Does not sound like a 4-cylinder, at all (I was scared it would sound like a rice burner when I bought mine w/out having ever heard one). You can hear it at idle, but it's not really loud. Think of it as a deep purring, almost. Under normal driving conditions, it's about the same. Of course, w/ the windows down, you can hear it better (one of the reasons I almost always drive w/ the windows down when the weather permits :) ). When you get on the car, you can really hear it. It's not too loud, just right. It gives the engine a note of authority. Anyone know how to record a sound clip? I'd be happy to try it out if anyone would like (provided I have the equipment to do so).
For reference, my car is a '99 2.3LPT w/ a Speedparts Stage II ECU, SMBC, etc.
