to pop them out of the hole. First one end then the other. Getting them back in is tough and usually takes me a couple of attempts.
IIRC, I install one end first (usually the bottom), loop the wire clip behind the caliper ears, grasp the remaining end with strong pliers and pull hard to set the remaining end in it's anchor hole. You may have to push on the clip between the caliper ears with the thumb of your free hand to help stretch the clip to its final position. Last step is a gentle tap on each end with a small ball-peen hammer to ensure both ends are fully in their holes.
