I drove up to Killington, VT this weekend for some skiing, check out my SID! (It actually went down to -17ºF/-27ºC but I wasn't able to snap a photo of that)
Here it says -14ºF (-26ºC). This is the first time I've seen the negative sign on the outside temp reading!
Driving at that temperature, the INSIDE of the windows start icing up, despite a fully warmed up cabin!
The next morning she started right up without any problem, synthetic (GC) 0W-30 in the engine. The stick shift felt a little stiff, but that went away after a minute or two of driving.
No unusual noises--the "synthetic lubricants in everything" approach seems to work well especially at these temperatures (SAAB fills 9-5s with synthetic power steering fluid, synthetic gearbox oil, synthetic motor oil, etc at the factory)
The heated front seats are awesome, and the rear seat passengers were extremely happy that the rear seat is heated as well, a rare feature even in cars twice the price.
SAAB makes great cold weather vehicles!
