Hi:

saab newbie here, but planning on buying a new 9-5 wagon. I'd love feedback from anyone that owns this model. I've been driving a volvo v70 for a few months on a rental basis and almost thought of getting that car. Its very comfotarble, the interior is of a slightly higher quality then saab, the controls well worked out. The car has a stongy feeling on the road thou. I tested drove some 9-5 wagons. After my test drive (actually 3 test drives) I am pretty convinced the saab offers a better experience, also love the style. The interiors' more intimate...feels good. Going back to the volvo I feel like I'm driving my grandfathers car... but it is a great cruiser. The clincher for me is that I want a manual transmission. These are hard to fing on a volvo. You have to get a base model s60, stripped down, or the R series at 40k plus (which I have no interest in).

So anyone who wants to share ther experience with the wagon on either of these cars ? Disappointments , exhileration.

I had a few disappointments with some saab details on my test drive, though they are minor. i hate the door handles. They are black ovals that project out from the body. Saab should do flush door handles that match the body color. The 'cockpit' feels good but the placement of the window controls is funny; counter-intuitive and the levers themselves feel cheap.

I drove a 'linear' and it felt good on the road. I was in mostly city traffic and i didn't get to push it much. I did not notice turbo lag like I did on the volvo. I found that annoying in volvo, and the saab seemed a lot smoother. I've heard complaints about this but i didn't experience any problem. It felt pretty smooth and dynamic. I am definitely falling for this car.
