Rear Fog Light Failure

I get a 'Fog Light Failure' message on when I engage the rear fog light switch and shift my auto transmission such that a transition through the R (Reverse) setting is performed. Momentarily then, both the rear fog light and the reverse brake lights are illuminated. When I subsequently check the rear fog light it is still illuminated (so are the front ones), I clear the SID message and I am able to carry on.
About a week ago during an ice storm I had occasion to use the rear fog light switch, my ACC display went blank (no heat) and the rear fog light did not illuminate. Traced it down to a blown fuse (#20) which when replaced allowed the ACC and the rear fog light to work again.
Now, prior to this I was getting the 'Fog Light Failure' message when I engaged the rear fog light switch, however the rear fog light did not illuminate in this case. The dealer traced it down to a short in the wiring and fixed it (at least temporarily).
Has anyone had any similar experiences, that might be able to point me in a direction in which I am able to troubleshoot this annoying electrical issue? Might it be symptomatic of a bigger issue?
Thank you in advance for any feedback!
Regards,
Steven
