provided the DIN tools are also inserted. There are two latching springs on each side of the radio with large barbs on them. The barbs latch behind a stop when the radio is inserted. Inserting the DIN toolsinto the holes depresses the spring clips away from the stops, and there is a tiny barb on each clip which engages into the slot in the tools. It is this tiny barb which allows you to pull the radio out.
Inserting the tools into the holes to unlatch the large barbs, pulling on the tools while also pulling on the radio via use of the cassette slot may be the trick. Do do have three hands don't you? Or a frind who can pull while sitting in the passenger seat.
In my case I refiled the one end of the slots and the tools worked like champs. With the rounded slots they only frustrated me by doing exactly the same thing yours are doing.
