I just don't agree with the line of thinking that it'd be a risk to MSRP the cars closer to the actual price. I don't see the logic that if they lower the price, they still might need big incentives to move 'em off the lots. If a loaded Aero only MSRP'd for $34,000 they wouldn't need to have a $5,000 incentive on it. The only difference I see is that many car buyers wouldn't be immediately scared off by the $40k+ MSRP.
I believe the risk is in continuing to position Saab as a higher-priced luxury car, which clearly is not working. Like I said in a different post, Acura is selling 65,000 reasonably priced TLs a year. There is no risk in moving "downmarket" if you're really just openly acknowledging reality!
