Check Engine Light Issue on a 2003 9-5 Sedan Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Tue, 29 Jun 2004 22:20:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My friend has a 2003 9-5 Sedan with about 9,600 miles on it. She took it for the 10,000 mi service and since the check engine light has come one and stayed on for periods of time.
The 1st time it seemed the issue was related to the gas cap not tightened all the way. Recently, it came on again about half way on a 250 mile drive. The next day, I checked to make sure the oil stick was on tight and again the gas cap - later that Saturday it went off and stayed off all day Sunday on the ride home.
Driving the car again Tuesday, the light was off, but after sitting and waiting for someone for about 10 minutes, it came back on again. Oil, gas caps looked fine. Temp gauge and coolant res. level both look fine.
Any ideas on this would be really helpful. The dealers that have been called all say not to worry, but it is a somewhat serious looking warning light. In other cars I have seen this caused by the oxygen sensor, but this seems strange for a car with so few miles. Note: 92 Octane or higher is always used.
Thanks for any help! Go Saab!
Dan
